Placement Test

Students who wish to attend Belmont Technical College must speak with an advisor who may direct students to take a three part placement test (writing, reading, elementary algebra). Placement test scores will determine if the student will be required to enroll into transitional mathematics, writing or reading courses.

Placement testing is scheduled by appointment and scored immediately.

Confirmation Tests: Confirmation tests may be recommended by advising staff upon completion of the placement test. When a student places into a basic skills course by only one or two points the advisor may direct the student to retake that portion of the placement test in order to test out of the initial course recommendation. Confirmation forms MUST be completed by an advisor before the test is administered. Students who do not fall within the confirmation test range and who wish to retest are subject to a $15.00 retest fee.
